Gandey’s International Christmas & Winter Circus announced today that with great regret this year’s visit to the Channel Islands has had to be cancelled.

The circus had been trying to arrange financial sponsorship to bear some of the huge costs in ferrying all its equipment - including the Theatre Big Top – from England. But the current depressed economic situation has led to no sponsor coming forward.

A spokesman said after everyone involved in the show was bitterly disappointed that they would not be returning this year.

Director Phillip Gandey explained "Cancelling our third visit to Jersey and our second visit to Guernsey is not a decision that we have reached without exhausting every other possibility. But the cost of ferrying our lorries and equipment between England and the Channel Islands has become so expensive that we cannot afford the crossing, so we had to find a sponsor to help bear some of the financial burden".

He added “Out visit last year attracted tremendous support despite the adverse wintry conditions. We are extremely grateful to every single person in our audiences from the very youngest to the not-so-young for their loyal support".

Full refunds are being issued, customers are advised to contact the booking agent they dealt with.
